So that's my story so far, I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is real or some kind of Sleep Paralysis I don't know Well, I hope you found this interesting, it would be in interesting to know your thoughts about what's been going on here. I'm by far no expert in ghosts and never really took a particular interest until the recent events. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? 9 People Describe What It Feels Like to Have a Panic Attack

At least the part about the words appearing in a vision. But for me it was in the middle of the day. I was just sitting there looking out the window and suddenly a bunch of ancient looking characters started scrolling from top to bottom before my eyes. It lasted for about 15 seconds. This has happened to me a few times under differnt circumstances. It looked almost like a computer download. It was really wierd and I don't know what to think about it.

Sounds like you could be suffering from Hypnogogic hallucinations. This is not a psychological disorder, it's a form of sleep paralysis that happens just before going to sleep or as you are waking up from sleep. It can include visual, tactile and auditory sensations. Visual hallucinations are not uncommon and the visions can last from several seconds to several minutes. Auditory hallucinations are usually described as undefined sounds, such as deep ringing, static like noise or buzzing. This process will not harm you in any way, but may be quite unnerving. You may want to do some research on this type of sleep disorder, it may put you at ease to know that it is not paranormal and is somewhat common.

Hope this helps. PrincessKatie 7 stories posts. I have visions once while I was awake it didn't mean anything it was a man wearing light blue jeans and a brown leather jacket. He had grey hair and a big belly. He was pale and medium sized in height. He walked then stopped turned his head at the side looked my way then looked back then carried on walking then the vision finished.

I knew I had generalized anxiety, but it had never caused any psychosomatic symptoms in me until that point. Nothing in particular triggered it—I was stressed about work in general and hadn't eaten until late in the day, around 3 p. After I returned from my late lunch, I felt sharp pain in my chest and down my right arm.

This led me to panicked Googling and the conviction or fear that I was having a heart attack.

When Seeing Isn't Believing: Charles Bonnet Syndrome

I tried to calm myself down and drank some water and decided to go for a walk around my office in midtown Manhattan. During my walk, the pain didn't go away, and it was joined by a deep and sincere fear that I was at risk of keeling over and dying in the gutter alongside the stale pizza crusts and garbage of my fair city of New York, looking up at the Empire State Building.

I called and an ambulance came to get me in the middle of the street. I took a very expensive trip to the hospital pro tip: ambulances don't come cheap, so if you're having an anxiety attack, try an urgent care center instead! They ran some tests on me, and though I had an elevated heart rate, it was found to be within a normal range.

They kept me there for a few hours and then I went home and decided I needed to go back to therapy I'd stopped going for a few months after my old therapist retired. My new therapist encouraged me to stop smoking so much weed and cut back on drinking. That, plus therapy and yoga, have made me feel much less anxious ever since.

Some last a few hours, and others happen daily for months. My heart beats really fast, like it wants to pop out of my chest, I get sweaty, and my mind starts racing. One of the worst panic attacks I can remember was while I was on my way to meet up with friends, when this overwhelming fear of possibly bumping into an ex sent me into a full-blown panic attack.

Alone in the car, I had absolutely no idea what to do. I collected my thoughts enough to pull over. That set off panic attacks for a month. I was only able to leave my apartment to go to work and that was it. Eventually I went to a therapist to talk it out. I wasn't exactly sure what I even worried was about to happen, only that it was extreme.

The exhaustion the next day is also uncanny. Your brain really makes your body pay for it. I don't remember how long my first attack lasted, but I was lucky enough to have a friend call over another friend who was having his own mental health issues at the time. I just remember kind of collapsing into his arms. I consider myself really lucky to have had a friend who was willing to run to where I was in a moment I needed him, and I feel for anyone who goes through something like that without similar support. They can come on for days at a time, but the actual anxiety—the acute phase—can last a few hours.

And then it takes a few days to recover.
